Q: What is KJBot?
A: KJBot is a channel management bot for Streamers, to manage their channel, perform common actions, and allow viewers to interact with the streamer!
Q: How much does KJBot cost?
A: KJBot is, and forever will be, free to use. No functionality will be removed or limited for "free users". KJBot Online will have a membership program that will affect your online storage and tip fees, but the bot itself is totally free. (More info about the membership program in the KJBot Online section below.)
Q: What makes KJBot special?
A: If I were to list all the reasons, I would need a lot more space! (A comparison page to other streaming bots will come later, as we near a 1.0 release.) But here's a few items:
- Built from the ground up to be cross-platform compatible. It doesn't matter if you stream from Windows, Mac or Linux, KJBot will be there!
- Designed with multiple streaming destinations in mind! Whatever streaming platform you prefer, KJBot can support it! (API permitting, of course...)
- The Profile System: KJBot uses a unique profile system that will allow multiple users to use a single copy of KJBot, each with their own settings and commands. Profiles will also let users back their settings up to KJBot Online. From there, you can go to any other copy of KJBot, (even your friend's house on the other side of the world), and download all your settings and commands, and be up and running like you were still at home.
- Command Sets: Ever wish you could have a set of commands that was just for one game? With command sets, you can! With an unlimited number of command sets available to you, you can create a command set specific for each game you play.
- Command Snippets: A simple line of text that contains all the data nessicary to create new commands in KJBot. This will allow you to quickly and easily share commands, or import commands from your friends or Stream-team. Command Snippets can also be uploaded and downloaded from the upcoming Command Library here on KJBot Online.
- Built-in browser source graphics: No longer will you have to rely on a website (or several) to display all of your alerts and graphics. KJBot will handle all of that without the need of a separate window that would need to be captured.
- Many more things!
Q: What streaming services will you support?
A: KJBot 1.0 will have multiple streaming services supported out-of-the-box. The Alpha is being built for Mixer, with Twitch, Hitbox and YouTube Gaming support being added during the Beta. Other streaming services will also be added in the Beta, but those three are confirmed.
Q: Is KJBot an always-on program like Scottybot?
A: No. KJBot is ran on your computer. I may consider an always-on build in the future, but for now, KJBot is only active when it's running on your computer.
Q: I'm already setup with ScottyBot/ScorpBot. I don't want the hassle of moving to a new bot...
A: No hassle required! Starting with Alpha 4, you will be able to easily import most of your settings from ScottyBot or ScorpBot with only a few clicks!
Q: Where's the link so I can download KJBot?
A: KJBot is not available openly until we hit Beta 2, which will be the first Open Beta for the program. If you want earlier access, you can
become a patreon.
Q: What the heck is a Command Set?
A: Simply put, a command set is a list of commands your viewers have access to. The nice part is, you can have more than one set of commands, and can switch between them at any time.
Q: Am I going to have to copy all of my basic commands to each set?
A: Not at all. Each profile in KJBot has a Global command set. The commands in this set will work no matter what you have set your current command set to.
Q: Can I have more than 1 command set active at once?
A: Unfortunatly not. Only the Global Command Set and the currently selected Command Set will have their commands available to viewers.
Q: Can I have my command sets automatically switch based on the game I'm playing?
A: Yes! You can configure each command set to auto-activate when a specific game is set to the current game. Each game can only have one command set, but one command set can be activated by multiple games.
Q: Command whaaaaat?
A: A Command Snippet is a line of text (a JSON code string) that can be used to create commands in KJBot.
Q: Can I write commands just using the JSON code string?
A: I suppose you can, but the interface on the command tab is a much easier way of doing it.
Q: Can I share the commands I create?
A: Yes! You can send them in emails, post them on your discord server, and even share them with everyone in the upcoming Command Library that will be available here on KJBot Online.
Q: Do I have to worry that someone will destroy my computer if I import a command?
A: Not at all. KJBot doesn't have any functionality that would allow for such a thing.
Q: What's this "Command Library" you keep talking about?
A: It is an online database of freely shared Command Snippets submitted by other streamers, or created by the KJBot staff to help you get started!
Q: Can I import/export more than one command at a time?
A: Absolutely! Command Snippets support 1 or many commands, both in importing and exporting. Share only 1 command, or your whole command set!
Q: Will KJBot have a tipping service?
A: KJBot Online will have a tipping service that is 100% compatible with KJBot. This means that the KJBot Online tipping service will work with any streaming service that KJBot works with.
Q: Is the tipping service free?
A: No. KJBot Online will take a small percentage service fee from all tips.
Q: How small of a fee?
A: I wish I could say "Oh, it'll be like 5%" but the truth is, there's a lot of finacial loops, holes, and requirements that we will have to hammer out. Until then, we can't give you an exact number. Once we've started working on the tipping system, we'll be able to give you a better idea of what to expect.
TipeeeStream actually has a great chart in their FAQ section. That should give you a good idea of what to expect.
Q: Do I have to use the KJBot Online tipping service?
A: Not at all. KJBot will also support popular sites such as Streamjar, StreamLabs, TipeeeStream, and others in addition to KJBot Online. However, since KJBot Online will be designed to work with KJBot, KJBot Online's tipping service will work with any streaming service that KJBot supports.
Q: I'm a developer. Will I be able to add KJBot Online Tipping support to my program, website, or service?
A: Once the tipping service is fully functional with KJBot, and the API has been refined, then yes.
Q: What is KJBot Online?
A: KJBot Online is the official website for KJBot. From here, you will be able to download the latest version of KJBot, check your online backups, download and share Command Snippets, and connect with the KJBot community!
Q: When will you get the Command Library?
A: The KJBot Online website will be taking a back seat to actual KJBot development during the Alpha phase. While we will be making an effort to slowly work on the website during that time, real development won't begin until just before the beta testing begins. However, if there is enough demand for it, we will push the development of the Command Library up in the schedule.
Q: What are these membership programs?
A: The current plan is to give all users 30 backed up settings slots, and 10 megs of compressed media storage. This means most GIFs, PNGs, sound files, and other files used for alert messages and onscreen displays can be backed up with your profile settings. However, we understand that some people might need more space. To meet these needs, we plan to offer the following options:
- Premium Membership: $2 a month; Offers up to 25 megabytes of media storage, and 60 settings slots.
- Gold Membership: $5 a month: Storage is now 64 megs, with 90 settings slots, and allows the uploading of video media files to be backed up.
- Platinum Membership: $10 a month; Increases storage to 128 megs of media and video files, and 180 settings backup slots.
All Membership plans will reduce the tipping fee to $0.00 for all tips under $100. All tips $100 or more will have the standard tipping fee applied.
Q: Do I have to buy a membership?
A: Not at all. Everyone who uses KJBot will have full access to the free account, which will make KJBot fully functional. Buying a membership simply gives you more backups, more storage, and helps support the development of KJBot. Free and Premium members can take a copy of their video files with them on a thumb drive when going to a Convention or a friend's house, and easily add it to their downloaded profile on KJBot.
Q: What's a setting slot?
A: A setting slot is a single instance of your backed up settings. With 30 slots, you can back up an entire month's worth of changes, assuming you change your settings once a day and have the "Auto-Upload Backups" option on. Once all 30 slots are full, the settings in the oldest slot will be deleted to make room for the newest settings.
Q: Why do I need so much room for my media?
A: It's not just your current files that KJBot Online keeps, but also older backups of your media files. Once you have filled your alloted storage, older backups will be deleted, just like with the setting slots. You can also delete specific backups on your account on KJBot Online.
Q: Do my settings count towards the storage space?
A: No, just media files used for the display system and any sound effects you run through KJBot.
Q: Can I buy a membership, backup my media, then immediately cancel my subscription?
A: We would prefer if you didn't, but yes you can. However, all older backups of your settings and media over the free account's limits will be deleted when your account expires. If your media backup is 9.9 megs compressed, all of your older media backups will be deleted upon your account's membership expiration. The same is true with your settings backups. Only the newest 30 settings will be kept.
Q: In such a situation, can I still download my backups?
A: Absolutely. You can get Platinum, fill your storage to the max with your current media files, cancel your subscription, and have access to your media backup indefinetly. But you will be unable to upload any new media until you reduce your media's footprint, or buy another month of Platinum membership.
Q: I'm a media mongrol. I'm gonna need more than 128 megs of media storage. What options are there?
A: Until we get the backup system up and running, the numbers listed here are simply a rough concept of what we will be offering. These numbers might change, but if they don't, and you DO need more than 128 megs, we will look into an addon to the Platinum membership for additional space. An example of what this COULD be is: $5 a month for each additional 64 megs of media storage.
Q: If I'm late paying my subscription, will my old settings be deleted immediately and lost forever, or will you be able to restore my older backups?
A: We will give you a few day's grace period before we delete the files (like 3 or 4) but the KJBot Online Server will be set to automatically save daily backups for a month. Restoring deleted backups in that 1 month window will only be available to subscribers who have been continuously subscribed for the last two or more months. (We will not offer this service to people who cancel their subscriptions immediately after subscribing.)
Please note that any or all of these plans may change at any moment, up until the release of the full KJBot Online website.
